In a major boost to passenger convenience during the festive season, Indian Railways has announced the operation of 1,500 special trains across the country to manage the surge in travel demand.

According to Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the initiative aims to ensure smoother and more comfortable journeys for passengers during the festive rush. He stated that as part of this nationwide effort, Northeast Frontier Railway has initially planned four pairs of special trains to cater to the increased passenger demand during Holi, with additional services likely to be announced in the coming days.

The special train services will operate on the routes Narangi–Gorakhpur–Narangi, Katihar–Amritsar–Katihar, Dibrugarh–Jhanjharpur–Dibrugarh, and Dibrugarh–Kolkata–Dibrugarh. These trains will run multiple trips across different dates between February 18 and March 31.

The move is expected to significantly ease travel congestion and provide greater connectivity across key destinations during the festive period. Passengers are advised to check train schedules and book tickets in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
