In a statement, the Mon District Petrol Pump Dealers Union said the decision was taken after operators allegedly faced repeated intimidation, making it increasingly difficult to carry out normal business operations.

The union stated that the prevailing situation has severely affected the functioning of fuel outlets and left dealers with no option but to suspend operations until their concerns are addressed.

The dealers have appealed to the Nagaland Government, the district administration and law enforcement agencies to provide adequate security and take necessary steps to curb illegal taxation and extortion.

They said fuel services would remain suspended until a safe and secure environment is ensured for petrol pump operators to resume business.

The proposed shutdown is expected to affect fuel availability in Mon district if the issues remain unresolved.
