Medziphema, March 11 (WE THE NAGAS): Exposure visit cum training programme for the farmers from IPM adopted Village, Socunoma, was successfully conducted at School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus on 11th March 2026. The programme was organized under the project titled “Establishment of Crop-Based Model IPM Villages for Promotion of Integrated Pest Management Technologies in NEH Region of India.” The project is funded by ICAR–NRIIPM, New Delhi. During the programme, farmers were trained on various aspects of Integrated Pest and Disease Management on different crops. Prof. Bireswar Sinha, Project Incharge and Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, SAS, NU gave a glimpse on the use of Tribac (A biopesticide) for disease management. Prof. N. Tiameren Ao, Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, SAS, NU delivered a lecture on Integrated Disease Management of Rice.
After the in-house training programme, an exposure visit of the farmers was conducted to the Plant Disease Museum, Insect Museum and Institute Museum, SAS, NU. Dr. Avinash Chauhan, Scientist, AICRP-Honey Bee explained the honey bee activities of the Institute under AICRP Honey Bee. Dr. Bendangsenla Longkumer, Project Assistant, demonstrated the use of Neem oil and its application for pest management. During the programme, agricultural inputs Tribac, Neem oil from the ICAR-NRIIPM were distributed to the farmers of the adopted village.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Waluniba, Co-PI and Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, SAS, NU.
