𝐊𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐚, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟕 (𝐖𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐒): The 30th Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship and the 1st NWA Wrestling Festival 2026 were held at Khuochiezie, Kohima, with Nagaland’s Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, gracing the event as special guest.

Organised by the Nagaland Wrestling Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland, the event celebrated the rich heritage of Naga traditional wrestling.

Addressing the gathering, Along highlighted the importance of promoting traditional wrestling, stating that it reflects the strength, courage and cultural identity of the Naga people. He also encouraged youth to pursue sports as it can bring recognition and economic opportunities.

The programme included the hoisting of the NWA flag, cultural performances and participation of wrestlers from several Naga tribes. The festival also featured the 1st NWA Under-15 Championship and the 1st NWA Provisional Championship, showcasing emerging talents from across the state.
