Lumami, March 11 (WE THE NAGAS): A three-day national workshop on the theme “Histochemical Techniques and Systematics in Biological Sciences” was inaugurated on March 11 in the the Department of Zoology, Nagaland University. The workshop is being held during March 11 to 13
The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Ramita Sougrakpam. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University. The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Ranjit Kumar, Head of the Department of Zoology. In his address, he emphasized the significance of histochemical techniques in scientific research, highlighting their role in understanding cellular structures and functions. He particularly mentioned that such techniques are instrumental in identifying different cellular stages, which can aid early detection and study of diseases such as cancer.
Following the welcome address, Prof. Bendang Ao, the Convenor of the workshop, spoke about the continued support of the Vice-Chancellor for the Department of Zoology in various academic and research activities. He also stressed the importance of organizing workshops of this nature, as they provide an excellent platform for participants to enhance their knowledge and gain practical insights. He encouraged all participants to actively engage and make the most of the three-day workshop.
Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, in his speech, expressed delight in being part of the workshop, particularly due to his keen interest in cancer research. He appreciated the initiative taken by the department and encouraged the organizers to conduct such workshops on a larger scale in the future, facilitating greater interaction among scholars from different institutions and states, thereby promoting knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rajesh Singh, Co-Convenor of the workshop. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest for gracing the occasion and acknowledged the valuable contributions of the participants, organizers, and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the successful commencement of the workshop.
