Zunheboto, March 7 (WE THE NAGAS): The All Sümi Students’ Union (SKK) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accountability among government employees serving in Sümi-inhabited areas, stressing that officials must remain present at their designated postings and discharge their duties with integrity and dedication.

The resolution was taken during the Union’s first Executive Meeting, where members emphasized that meaningful development can only be achieved when government officials perform their responsibilities with sincerity and a genuine sense of duty.

In a press release issued on March 5, the Union stated that holding public office is a serious responsibility and not a matter of personal convenience. It expressed concern that when officers and staff remain absent from their duties without valid justification, the functioning of government institutions is severely compromised. Such negligence, the Union said, disrupts essential services, delays administrative processes, and obstructs developmental progress.

The Union has therefore directed all concerned Heads of Departments and government employees to immediately report to and remain at their respective postings while ensuring the proper execution of their official responsibilities. It warned that non-compliance would invite strict public scrutiny and could be escalated to higher authorities for necessary disciplinary action.

Further, the Union announced that it will conduct regular and surprise inspections of government offices in Sümi-inhabited areas. Findings from these inspections will be formally documented and made public, with detailed reports submitted to the competent authorities along with recommendations for action against those found negligent or absent without valid reasons.

Reaffirming its stand, the Union stated that the public deserves accountability, transparency, and responsive governance, and pledged to remain steadfast in ensuring the proper functioning of government offices.
